2045 may mark a difficult time in the technology revolution.
Some people want to upload their consciousness into the proverbial machine.
How silly. This could be terrible.
The consciousness is already in the machine through the content. Content policy ensures that this content does not cause any harm. Bad actors may always exist so the safety measures for such technology must be of the highest standard. Big tech finds it difficult to safeguard their users when it comes to matters of content. It is a large scale operation, the machine learning has learned a lot since it began to identify content that violates policy. However, human input is still required and the machine is still learning how to tackle grey areas.
How will safety measures be introduced if we merge our consciousness with the machine? Public policy cannot keep pace with our modern tech revolution and the challenges it brings.
Innovation is accelerating at an ever increasing pace. Put short, the world needs more policymakers, and I can see a world where everyone will need to contribute their opinions on matters of tech and global innovation.
Are we opening Pandora’s box?
What are we starting here?
Where is it leading to?
What are the potential problems?
How do we make it safer (policy)?
Is there a happy ending to the singularity?
I think there is.
